Conference City: Singapore is safe, clean and green. It is a dynamic modern metropolis with one of the world's busiest port and one of the best airports. At the same time, the island has retained many elements of its colonial past. The multi-ethnic population provides a rich heritage of cultures, religions and languages.

General information about the city can be found at www.sg. Information for visitors can be found at the Uniquely Singapore website.

The favourite local activities include shopping and eating. Well known shopping malls are located in the Orchard Road area. The Makansutra website provides a guide to the local food scene. Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay is both a landmark and cultural center that is located beside the Singapore River, only a few minutes walk from the conference hotel. Nature lovers can explore the local nature reserves including the Sungai Buloh Wetland Reserves. Animal lovers can observe nocturnal animals in their natural surroundings at the world famous Night Safari and visit one of the world's largest aviaries at Jurong Bird Park.
