UPDATE: Program for NITA

NITA online quiz

The National Information Technology Awareness Club, as its name implies, serves to promote IT awareness, and help people appreciate and imbibe a wholly new discipline. The Club, a part of the Computing Club fraternity of the National University of Singapore, invites one and all to join, and become a part of its dream ¨C an IT literate nation!

NITA

Riding on the success of NITA Seminars of the past, we have the pleasure of presenting the National Information Technology Awareness Seminars, 2002. NITA is one of the many very resourceful events organized by the Computing Club of NUS.

The theme we have chosen for this year is ¡°Renaissance¡±. The current, the fifth episode of the event will be held on March 2th, 2002. As has always been the goal, NITA shall seek to promote IT awareness in Polytechnic and Junior College students. The aim is to help students appreciate and imbibe a wholly new discipline in its totality. And this has been done primarily through the existing features such as guest talk shows, project exhibitions, hands-on sessions etc. In its present incarnation, NITA retains all the salient features that constitute the ideological framework. However, this time, we wish to take NITA a step forward in terms of the scale of the event ¨C the size of the audience; the pool from which we intend to rope in audience; the level of publicity; quality and amplitude of sessions such as the hands-on session; and the overall impact of the event.

&n bsp;      The ultimate goal of the event is to promote and elevate interest among people in IT and IT enabled fields, and encourage them to further their interest. Secondary and Tertiary level students, obviously, are the principal focus of our programme.

Salient Features

(1)  The event would be held over an entire day.
(2) Our target audience would mainly be tertiary and secondary level students.
(3)  The number of students we intend to invite from each institution will also be greater this year, as compared to the previous years.
(4)  Students would attend a hands-on session.
(5) Several interactive sessions, such as online quiz sessions to be held.
(6)  Participants and visitors will also have the benefit of speaking to representatives from various IT companies in Singapore at their stalls, which would be set up at our venue.

The ¡®IT Revolution¡¯ is changing the way the world runs. And it is our duty, as socially conscious students, to help pave the way for people through this transition. We should strive not just to make the metamorphosis successful, but also fun. It is thus imperative that NITA evolve and grow to fit the needs and demands of the situation.
