Established in 1998, NUS School of Computing is home to some 200 faculty members who have come from leading universities worldwide. We have a student population of over 2,200, a quarter of them graduate students.

We operate on the clear recognition that computer science fundamentals must play a critical role in many emerging technologies, not to mention that computational knowledge continues to be key in the IT industry in general. This operating philosophy drives our approach to both teaching and research.

The School offers six undergraduate degree programmes that are undergirded by strong grounding in the fundamentals of computer science, and covering four main areas of specialisations: biology, business, computer engineering and digital media. We also offer graduate degree programmes by coursework or research with greater intensity in focus within these areas of specialisations.

The research initiatives at SoC are supported by a number of research laboratories and centres within the School. Fitted with equipment that is funded mainly by research grants, the laboratories and centres provide a common space for people with similar interest to exchange ideas and work together informally.

The School is governed by the Executive Committee, which is guided by an Industry Advisory Committee.

In terms of affiliation, the School enjoys a close working relationship with its alumni, represented by the Computer and Information Science Alumni Association (CISAA).

The student body is represented by the NUS Students' Computing Club, whose precursor was the Computer Science Society.

Historically, the School of Computing was formerly the Department of Information Systems and Computer Science (DISCS).

The tables below pay tribute to the individuals who have led the School and its affiliated agencies through the years.
