This privilege is only extended to users from the School of Computing. Otherwise, your SoC Account username will be identical to your NUSNET id.
If you are allowed to choose your own username, congratulations!
You may either:
- use your NUSNETid which is extremely boring; or
- form a username from your name
- You may truncate characters from words forming your name;
- You may use the words in any combination (or not at all);
- You may use ' - ' between each subword but you
may not start or end with them.
- You may use numbers between or in place of each character.
- the username must be between 5-8 characters in length.
- the username must not look like a NUSNETid
The username can only consist of lowercase letters of the alphabet (a-z), numbers and the delimiter '-' . Whitespaces and other characters are not allowed.
E.g. if your name is "Tan Ah Kow",
- The following user names are okay:
- tanahkow
- ak-tan
- tan8888a
- tankow99
- kowak99
- The following user names are _not_ okay:
- tanameow
-
* Meow is not part of your name *
- alextan
-
* Alex may be your christian name but we do not know about it *
- tanahkow99
- * Too long *
- tak
- * Too short *
- u1999999
- * looks like a NUSNETid *
