Job Description
The Multimedia Systems Lab at the National University of Singapore has an immediate opening for a Research Fellow with expertise in the areas of large scale distributed systems, streaming media management and distribution, multimedia data management, and multimedia analysis. We are performing cutting edge research and developing sophisticated applications in the areas of distributed virtual collaboration and multimedia applications that run on everything from hand-held devices to multi-core desktop computers.
Requirements/Pre-requisites
* The candidate should have a PhD for Research Fellow (Scale A) or a MS for Research Fellow (Scale B) in the field of computer science.
* Experience with multimedia and peer-to-peer network protocols, location-based services, multimedia data management, and distributed programming tools are desired.
*Additionally, a successful applicant should have a commitment to research and strong development expertise.
* The candidate should possess good communication skills in English, and be willing to work as part of an interdisciplinary research team.
Term of Appointment
The appointment will commence immediately and will be for one year, with possibility for extension up to two additional years.

(II) Job Title: Laboratory Technologist / Research Assistant
Job Description
Our interdisciplinary team in Computational and Biological (Apoptosis and Oxidative Stress) has an opening for a laboratory
based research assistant in a project involving the computational modeling of the role of oxidative stress in tumour
signaling. The aim of this research project is to gather information about the dynamics of this pathway so that a
computational model of the pathway can be constructed. You will be working under 2 research scientists and with students
as the project develops.
Requirements
* BSc Honours or BSc graduate with work experience
* Desired Skills; molecular cell biology, cell culture, microscopy-confocal or other, cytometry, apoptosis, drug development, assay development. Computational skills would be considered desirable but not essential.
* Good written and spoken English, able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and a team player are essential.
* Good record keeping and time managament skills are needed and the ablilty to undertake research with the minimum supervision, but training will be provide as needed.
Job Duties:
* Performing Western blots, cytometry, microscopy and managing tissue cultures.
* Learning to use new technologies
such as laser scanning cytometry.
* Communicating methods and results, verbally
and in writing.
* Upholding the standards of a safe,
organized, and clean working environment.

Background:
An opening is available for the position as Research Fellow (post-doctoral researcher) in the general area of sensor-network-related distributed systems and distributed algorithms.
Job Description:
The appointee is expected to work closely with the Project Investigator (Assistant Prof. YU Haifeng, http://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/~yuhf) and his research team. The most important goal of the research is to produce high-impact publications in the very best conferences and journals in the area.
Requirements
- At least a PhD degree from a good university
- Strong publication records
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Ability and dedication to do world-class research in the given area
- Strong in either distributed algrithom issues or sensor network systems implementation/evaluation
