MComp: Admission Requirements
Introduction
Admission Criteria
Important: The University has not engaged any external agencies to undertake graduate student recruitment on its behalf. Candidates interested in our graduate programmes are advised to apply directly to the University and not through any agents. Candidates who apply through agents will not have any added advantage in gaining admission and the University reserves the right to reject such applications without giving reasons.
Introduction
The Master of Computing programme is a comprehensive and challenging graduate programme with area specialisations. It encompasses the latest research findings, both applied and fundamental. The programme also provides advanced and in-depth knowledge of IT to prepare the students for challenges in IT career.
The programme may be taken full-time or part-time. Most level 5000 and 6000 modules are conducted in the evenings.
Admission Criteria
From January 2007 intake, candidates may apply for admission into the MComp Programme to specialise in one of these areas:
Computer Science; or
Infocomm Security; or
Information Technology Project Management (ITPM)**
*Other possible specialisation may include Digital Media, Management of Information Systems and E-Business, subject to modules availability .
**Candidates applying for ITPM specialisation should preferably gained at least 2 years of relevant industry experience in Project Management.
The candidates must possess:
A good honours degree in computing; or
A good honours degree in a related discipline with 2 years IT industry experience; or
A good bachelor's degree in computing with 2 years IT industry experience; or
A good bachelor's or honours degree in business related discipline with 2 years IT industry experience.
The above admission requirements are minimum requirements. Admission is on a competitive basis.
TOEFL or IELTS
International applicants who graduated from universities where English is not the main medium of communication are required to take TOEFL(http://www.ets.org/) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) (http://www.ielts.org).General Record Examinations (GRE) or GMAT
All candidates (except for NUS / NTU / SMU graduates) are required to take GRE (General). Candidates with a general bachelor degree are also required to submit GRE Computer Science test score.Candidates applying to specialise in Information Technology Project Management may elect to use GMAT, instead of GRE score. A candidate may be required to sit for other tests as prescribed by the school. Candidates are expected to have at least a GMAT score of 650 and above.

If you are taking the tests in countries other than Singapore, you may contact US Education Service or US Embassy in your country.
Candidates should take the GRE/GMAT and TOEFL/IELTS at least 3 months before putting in their application for the programme. This allows ample time to include the scores (which is necessary for admission) in the application.
Most successful candidates have a minimum GRE score of 320 (verbal & quantitative) and 3.5 (analytical); Mimimum TOEFL scores for Internet Based Test (IBT) is 90; or IELTS score of 6.0. GRE and TOEFL scores will be valid for 5 years and 2 years respectively. After that, a candidate needs to take the tests again.
