Mr Alex Siow is currently the Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Sales in StarHub Ltd, a position he assumed since 1 Feb 2005.

Mr Siow received his tertiary education in Germany under a PSC scholarship where he obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (civil) degree in 1979 from the Stuttgart Institute of Technology. In 1986 he obtained his Master of Science in Engineering with distinction at the Birmingham University, U.K. graduating as top student in his class. In 1991 he completed his Senior Management Programme at INSEAD, Fontainebleu, Paris.

Before joining StarHub, Mr Alex Siow joined the Housing and Development Board in 1980 and served as a Structural Engineer before being appointed as Chief Information Officer in 1991. Under his leadership, the IT department of HDB won several accolades and awards and Mr Siow was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 1993 and (Silver) in 2000.

Mr Siow is also very active in the IT community in Singapore. He was a past President of the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) and Information Technology Management Association (ITMA). As President of the SCS, Mr Siow initiated the Certified IT Project Management Programme. Currently he is a Vice President of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and Chairman of its IT Function Committee. He also sits on the IT Advisory Committee of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce and also of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was the past Secretary General of the Asia ICT Confederation and past Chairman of the e-Learning Chapter of the Singapore IT Federation. He is the immediate Past President of the Singapore Chapter of the Project Management Institute. For his involvement and leadership in the IT community, Mr Siow was conferred the IT Leader's Award for Person of the Year in 2002.

Mr Siow is a Board member of CISCO Security Pte Ltd and P.T. CISCOMAS Sekurititama, Jakarta. He is the Chairman of the Industry Advisory Committee for the School of Computing, NUS, a member of the National IT Advisory Committee, a member of the National Grid Steering Committee, and a member of the National Trust Council.

Mr Siow has published many articles in the Computer Times, Digital Life and other publications and has delivered many papers and presentations on project management, information technology and business value of IT at local and international conferences. He was Adjunct Associate Professor at the Nanyang Business School, NTU and at the NUS Business School. He is currently Adjunct Professor at the School of Computing, NUS.
