| Videoconferencing and education
This project investigates the usage of videoconferencing systems
for education. Current works focus on the usage among secondary
school students for informal tuition. Surveys and case studies
are in process.
Cross-Cultural Research on Information Systems
This project aims to add a cultural dimension to the existing
body of information systems knowledge. Currently, research has
been conducted to investigate important information systems theories
and practices for cross-cultural applicability and to examine
how multi-cultural teams would engage in information systems to
carry out tasks with an international scope.
Negotiation software
Systems are created to help negotiating parties obtain settlements
that are more in line with their individual preferences. Both
LAN- and Web based versions are catered to.
User-database interface design
The interaction between human users and database query systems
is investigated. A good interface allows effective data retrieval.
The project consists of many experimental studies, as well as
the development of improved database query languages and interfaces.
More information is at this site.
Content-based image retrieval
The human factors in content-based image retrieval are investigated
in this project. Of particular interest are the human capabilities
to estimate and recall the image content required by current image
retrieval systems. Another focus of this project is on the collaborative
retrieval of images by humans, as an approach to identify effective
strategies for computers.
IT Infrastructure and Associated Service Quality in Higher
Education
This research is interested in two areas. Firstly, there is a
need to describe what IT infrastructure is in Higher Education.
Secondly, while looking at ways to assess this infrastructure
(via service quality), the research wants to determine whether
there are differences between various customer groups in the way
they assess service quality and whether internal IT/IS service
groups are assessed differently to external IS service.
