Professor Chua Tat-Seng, Provost's Chair professor from NUS School of Computing, was named distinguished visiting professor by Tsinghua University. Dr Chua played an instrumental role in forging partnership between NUS and Tsinghua University. He is also the co-director of the NUS-Tsinghua Extreme Search Center (NExT).

Annual screenings for diabetic retinopathy to prevent vision loss will be more efficient, more accurate and more cost effective with the new artificial intelligence (AI) system developed by the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) and National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Computing. The AI technology uses a Deep Learning System (DLS), which thinks and makes decisions like human intelligence, to differentiate those with and without the eye conditions.
