Two new consortia, hosted at NUS and supported by the National Research Foundation (NRF) Singapore, have been launched to promote research, commercialisation and training in cybersecurity and synthetic biology. The Singapore Cybersecurity Consortium (SGCSC), one of NUS Computing's research centres, and the Singapore Consortium for Synthetic Biology (SINERGY) will actively engage industry, government agencies and researchers to spur use-inspired research, technology translation, manpower training, and technology awareness in cybersecurity and synthetic biology.

AI startup ViSenze raises US$10.5m Series B

ViSenze, a spin-off company of NExt Search Center, has raised US$10.5 million in Series B funding. The round was led by Rakuten Ventures, WI Harper Group and Enspire Capital. Other participating investors include SPH Media Fund, FengHe Fund Management, Raffles Venture Partners, Phillip Private Equity and UOB Venture Management.

9 September 2016 – Last month, NUS and the Kitakyushu Foundation for the Advancement of Industry, Science and Technology (FAIS) formalised their intention to collaborate on applied research and development at the Kitakyushu Research Complex Meeting, which included over 100 attendees from various participating organisations and Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
