Professor Mohan Kankanhalli has been named Editorial Board Member of the Year for his work with Multimedia Systems Journal, a prestigious publication in multimedia research. He received the award at the top-ranking ACM Multimedia 2009 conference, which was held in Beijing, China, from 19 to 23 October.

Professor Kankanhalli also won a Best Paper award for his work entitled "Motivating Contributors in Social Media Networks", which he had co-authored with Mr Vivek Singh and Professor Ramesh Jain of University of California at Irvine. The award was presented at the inaugural ACM SIGMM Workshop on Social Media (WSM2009), which was held in conjunction with ACM Multimedia 2009.

Professor Mohan is with the Department of Computer Science in NUS School of Computing. He is also the School's Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies. Find out more about him here
