SoC Assistant Professor Wins
Award for Sensor Network Research
Dr Yu was conferred the NUS Young Investigator Award on 8 December
2007.
The award is administered by the University’s Office of Deputy
President (Research and Technology), and provides up to $500,000
over three years to a project.
The objective of the award is to encourage ground-breaking work from
young researchers at NUS.
For Dr Yu, that means taking
state-of-the-art large-scale sensor network technology to the next
level.
Currently, sensors that are deployed in the open, such as water
quality sensors and battle field sensors, may detect hacking
attempts but cannot foil them.
Dr Yu intends to develop a sensor network that can both provide
accurate readings and is robust against attacks.
To achieve that objective, he will be looking beyond traditional
crypto technique to leverage on novel randomisation algorithms and
techniques.
Dr Yu was one of five NUS professors conferred the NUS Young
Investigator Award in December 2007.
