Internet Pioneer Vinton Cerf Shares His Thoughts on the Digital Future with the SoC Community and Partners

On 23 May 2008, some 400 people thronged an auditorium at NUS School of Computing (SoC) to listen to a talk on “Tracking the Internet into the Future.”

The man who had attracted the capacity crowd comprising SoC students, staff, alumni and partners from elsewhere in NUS and beyond was Dr Vinton Cerf, who has been described as a father of the Internet.

Dr Cerf, who is currently vice president and Chief Internet Evangelist for Google, is the co-designer with Robert Kahn of TCP/IP protocols and basic architecture of the Internet.

His talk at NUS School of Computing covered his perspective on the future trends of the Internet in the 21st century, and how that will change our lifestyles.

Dr Cerf followed his hour-long presentation with a lively exchange of questions and answers with the audience.

NUS School of Computing hosted the talk as part of its 10th Anniversary Celebrations events.
