Sung Kah Kay Assistant Professorship
Dr. Sung Kah Kay graduated with
BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT). He joined the Department of
Computer Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS)
in 1995.
Dr Sung passed away in the SQ006 air
crash in Taiwan on 31st October 2000. The Sung Kah Kay Assistant
Professorship was established in memory of him by his family and
friends.
The objective of the Sung Kah Kay
Assistant Professorship is to attract and retain outstanding
young scholars in Computer Science.
In both his research into
face recognition and undergraduate teaching, Dr Sung showed great
promise. His research interests included computer vision,
graphics, machine learning and neural networks.
It is hoped that the Sung Kah Kay Assistant Professorship will
help strengthen NUS as an intellectual leader in the research and
teaching of Computer Science.
With the generous contributions
of our various donors, we have reached the initial target sum of
S$1million. We welcome your further contributions
to this Assistant Professorship. The Government will match your
donation dollar-for-dollar. All donations will be eligible for double
