Akkihebbal L. Ananda is presently working as Professor of Practice in the Computer Science Department of the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore (NUS). His current area of research include performance of transport protocols, wireless and sensor networks, and IPv4 to IPv6 transition mechanisms.

Ananda was one of the key players in developing the NUS's campus wide secure plug-and-play network. He was the Director of Centre for Internet Research at NUS from April 1998 to March 2003. He was the co-founder of Innvo Systems Pte Ltd, a spin off company from NUS. He was actively associated with Singapore Advanced Research and Education Project (SingAREN ) and had involved in network research and connectivity issues relating to Internet2.

Ananda obtained his M.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1973, and the Ph.D degrees in computer science from the University of Manchester, UK in 1983.
