Akkihebbal L. Ananda is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department of the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore (NUS). His current area of research  include performance of transport protocols, wireless and sensor networks,  IPv4 to IPv6 transition mechanisms and distributed systems. He has published over 100 technical papers.

Ananda was one of the key players in developing the NUS's campus wide secure plug-and-play network. He was the Director of Centre for Internet Research at NUS from April 1998 to March 2003.  He was the co-founder of Innvo Systems Pte Ltd  a spin off company from NUS. He is actively associated with Singapore Advanced Research and Education Project (SingAREN ) and has involved in network research and connectivity issues relating to Internet2.

Ananda obtained his M.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1973, and the M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in computer science from the University of Manchester, UK in 1981 and 1983 respectively. He is a member of the IEEE Computer and Communications Societies.
