About Me

I'm a Computer Science postgraduate (Ph.D) student studying with the Singapore-MIT Alliance programme at the National University of Singapore. My research deals with algorithms and their applications in Structural Computational Biology. My advisors are David Hsu and Tomas Lozano-Perez.

Research

My research focuses on algorithms for analysing and organising biological data, mainly protein structures.

Protein Conformational Flexibility

We have developed an efficient algorithm for analyzing conformational changes of a protein, given its structures in two different conformations. Details and publications can be found here. We are currently working on applying this methodology to more varied data sets such as non-identical proteins and MD simulation trajectories.

Characterization of Protein Conformational Space

One of the major problems in Computational Biology today is the prediction of protein structure from protein sequence. All approaches involve a search through the possible protein conformations. This conformation space is considered too large to sample exhaustively by brute force methods, and a number of strategies are used to limit the space. We have proposed a new approach for exploring the clash-free conformation space, which comprises all protein structures whose atoms are not in self-collision. Details can be found here.

Teaching

I am currently a teaching assistant for CS1102C, Data Structures and Algorithms.
