| Project Description: |
The BestPeer project attempts to exploit peer-to-peer (P2P) technologies for distributed application. In its early stage, we have designed and implemented an agent-based platform for easy implementation of P2P systems, and deployed several peer-based systems, for example, PeerDB (for database application), PeerIS (for Information Retrieval), BuddyWeb (for collaborative web caching). These systems require novel resource discovery and search algorithms as well as novel semantic-based mechanisms to measure relevance of data.
In the new version of BestPeer, it has been designed to work as both unstructured network with supernodes and structured network.? The underlying structured network, BATON, supports for efficient query processing and good load balancing. New features such as access control, sercurity and fuzzy query processing are also added in the new version.
