CS6201 (2010): Student Presentation Guidelines

The purpose of the presentations is to learn about software technologies related to reuse and good software design in general, through independent research, active learning, and discussion.

 

1.      About 40 minutes will be allocated to each team for presentation and 10 minutes for open-floor discussion

2.      Review the recommended sources and search for additional sources in the Digital Library and on the Web. Use Google Scholar , and other databases that may be available to you, some of them listed in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_write_a_great_article

3.      Discuss the problems in the team, focus the topic and select specific sources. Try to view the presented topic  in the context of other related topics discussed in the class.

4.      Consult the course instructor if you need help in selecting sources and in focusing your presentation.

5.      Presentations will be marked by other students and by the instructor. Presentation will be judged for clarity, originality, the contents and relevance to the course topics and quality of handouts given to the class.

6.      Presentation: Present the topic in the class, initiate and stimulate the discussion, toss interesting problems, answer questions from the floor. Try Highlight possible further work, identify open problems and controversial points. One student in a group might present one opinion and another student might present a counter-argument, to stimulate the discussion. The form of presentation is up to you.

7.      Presentation slides: Send presentation slides (PDF) to the instructor or to all course participants one day before your presentation. Please use font 20 (Times Roman, bold) or larger in the presentation slides. Put the title of the presentation and student names on the first slide. List references used in the presentation in the last slide.
