Growth in data collection
technologies have brought about a large amount of data that are high dimensional
and complex in the form of sequences, trees and graphs. This year, the advanced
data mining course will look
at the mining of such data sets which see large number of applications in
bioinformatics, multimedia etc. To support
efficient mining on these data sets, fundamental techniques involving the
searching and ranking of these datasets
will also be studied. At the end of the course, students should be familiar with
the various research issues that
are involved in searching and mining these high dimensional and complex
datasets.
For the running of the course, we will be using the NUS IVLE system available here: IVLE
