I use Google
desktop
to search
for documents/emails on my PC. It's much faster than Windows search.
I use Merriam-Webster
as my online dictionary.
What I like most about M-W is that it has audio recordings of the pronunciation
of the word
I use Xenu's
Link Sleuth
to
check for broken links in my web site
I use StatCounter
to monitor traffic to my web sites.
I use Sage
(within Firefox) to read news/blog feeds
I use x-rates.com
for currency calculations
I use timeanddate.com
to calculate world time
(especially, to calculate time till conference submission deadlines :-)
I use
Screen Recorder to capture screen activities into movie clips
I use
VLC media player to play movie clips. It works great with many media
types, even incomplete clips.
I use
ScreenHunter to take screen snapshots. Compared to using the
printscreen button, ScreenHunter can capture a part of the screen and
transfer it into the clip board in JPG format while also saving it at
the same time.
I use ZoomIt to zoom the desktop. Particularly useful during presentations or demos when some details are too small to appear clearly in the projector.
