On media
semantics in the Max Planck

J I wish I can work there sometime…
On image interestingness for the CANALAVIST talks http://www.canalavist.org/ict-forum/abstractimages.html the presentation slides
Some
things I am thinking about,
Semantic analysis across multiple
media types (a write up on issues)
Books I’m
reading,
What is meaning
? Fundamentals of Semantics, Paul H Porter , reading done J
A nice,
introductory book on formal semantics. Mostly explained based on the English
language, I just finished one reading. Got a good idea about what makes
inferring semantics difficult and pragmatics extremely hard. This is the state
in text which in structured expression of information. No wonder it’s so hard
to do even simple semantic analysis in other media like image, video, etc.
Strang’s lectures on linear algebra
, reading in progress
Excellent video lectures, rich in
content and takes time to consume. But worth the effort, it’s amazing vision by
MIT to put up stuff like this online.
Gonzalez’s
Digital Image Processing , reading in progress
The de-facto book to start on image
processing. Easy to read till now…
Pattern classification, Duda & Hart, reading in progress
Very
nice introductory book on pattern classification, ebook
is available if you dig around
Robot Vision by Horn,
not started
Classic book I’m just beginning to read,
suggested by my Shanmuga to me J
