Dr Png is the Lim
Kim San
Professor in the School of Business,
and Professor of
Information Systems and Economics at the
National
University of Singapore.
Previously, he
was a faculty member at the Anderson School, University of California,
Los Angeles (1985-96) and the Hong Kong University of Science &
Technology (1993-96).
Dr Png attended the
Anglo-Chinese School, Singapore, and graduated with
first class honours in economics from the University of Cambridge
(1978) and a
PhD from the Stanford Graduate School of Business (1985).
His research
focuses on the economics of intellectual property, information
privacy, and pricing. His recent publications have been
in Management Science and the Journal of Management
Information Systems.
He is the author of
Managerial
Economics, which has been published in multiple editions and
adapted into Chinese
(traditional and simplified characters) and
Korean. He received the NUS-UCLA Executive MBA Teaching
Excellence Award, 2008.
Dr Png is
an independent director of
Hyflux Water Trust Management Pte Ltd and
Healthway Medical Corporation Ltd, and a member
of the Trustworthy Computing Academic Advisory
Board of Microsoft Corporation. He
was a nominated MP (10th Parliament of
Singapore), 2005-06.
Dr Png
speaks English and Chinese (Mandarin). He is
married to Ms Joy Cheng. They have two
sons, Max and Lucas.
