General info

I am currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Computer Science, National University of Singapore. I was honored to join the database group in 2009, supervised by Prof. Ooi Beng Chin. From 2005 to 2009, I studied in Peking University, Beijing, China and obtained my BSc degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science.

Research

My research interests are mainly in cloud computing, including the storage, indexing and query processing.

Project

epiC: The goal of the epiC project is to develop an elastic, power-aware, data-intensive cloud computing platform for large-scale services. Two typical database workload types are supported in epiC: data intensive analytical jobs and online-transcations. The property of elasticity guarantees that epiC can scale up or down in a pay-as-you-go model. With this feature, epiC provides resizable computation capacity according to different users' computational requirements. To facilitate energy-aware computation and ensure effectiveness and reliability, the epiC system is designed to monitor system status and reschedule jobs where necessary.

I participate into this project and mainly focus on the query processing part.
