Short Bio

Lu Peng is currently a second year graduate student in School of Computing, National University of Singapore, under supervision of Prof. Ooi Beng Chin.

Born and raised in a small beautiful city named Xiamen, Peng had a carefree childwood and a happy teenage. After surviving the excruciating University Entrance Exam, he went to Beijing for undergraduate study. Beijing is a great city one may easily fall in love with, where Peng experienced the most colorful 4 years in his life. Between year 2005 and 2009, he was often seen doing every kind of sports around Peking University, and occasionally drop by to study. Peng obtained his B.S. degree from School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science(EECS), Peking University in 2009, and came Singapore to pursue his PhD since then.

Apart from the busy work schedule and learning to be a good researcher, Peng is also trying to keep his life balanced by leaving time for sports, books and cool new stuffs. If you can't catch him in the lab, check out the soccer field.



Research

As a member of NUS Database Research Group, Peng's research interest falls on to distributed database systems(e.g. cloud), especially in query processing, data management, load balancing, and fault tolerance mechanism. He currently involve in the epiC project, which intends to build an elastic, power-aware, data-intensive cloud computing platform for large-scale services.

He also keep his mind on database systems on modern hardware, such as flash SSD, etc.
