I graduated from School of Computing, National Univerisity of Singapore (SoC, NUS) with the First Class Honours in 1998. In Dec, 2000, I received my MSc.degree from the SoC, NUS. From Oct. 1, 2001 to Dec. 31, 2006, I've been awarded the senior tutorship from SoC, NUS for the purpose of pursuing PhD. degree. I'm expecting to receive my PhD. degree in early 2007 from Department of Computer Scicence, UC, Irvine . From 1998 to 2007, my main research focus is on developing large scale data mining techniques for various real-life data analysis tasks. I've been authored/co-authored more than 20 conference/journal publications during this period; most of them published in the top data mining and database conferences.

Software Systems

CBA V2.0 -- Association rules based classification

I had worked under Prof. Bing Liu's supervision from 1998 to 2001. During the period, we have jointly developed the first association based classification system (CAB). The working prototype of CBA has been recognized as a benchmarking program in the area. CBA implements the major algorithms described in paper "Integrating Classification and Association Rule Mining". CBA is also a fully functioning data mining package. It includes a number of interesting data mining algorithms: a fast association rule miner, an accurate classifier builder, a scoring based ranking system, Web rule generator, tree based visualizer, and etc.
Web Drill V1.0
This is a prototype system, which implements the algorithms described in the paper "Discovering Unexpected Information from Your Competitors' Web Sites". It implements a multi-threaded top-down Web crawler for efficient Web resource discovery. It has a number of interesting analysis tools, which enable an analyst to compare and contrast a set of Web pages to others.
The prototype system is available for download upon request.
