MY FAMILY

If you were ever to debate on issues like "Is a large family fun or not?" or "The pros and cons of being the youngest in the family?", look for me - I'm the right person to ask. I've had a lot of fun growing up as the youngest in the family.

At Home

Archana, my loving wife, is my life-partner, and with me in Singapore.

My father, Shri M. L. Agarwal was born in Mangan, North Sikkim on Friday Jan 1, 1937. He is a businessman in Sikkim, India. My mother, Smt. Durga Devi Agarwal is an ideal and loving mother as well as a very pious lady. An epitome of love and courage, she has been my greatest inspiration in life. The person I am today, my norms and values, and whatever I have been able to achieve in life till today can all be attributed to her.

Anju didi was born on May 14, 1966. She is married to Mr. Lalit Kumar Agarwal. They have a loving son, Aman.

Born on October 13, my eldest brother, Ajay, an entrepreneur, is a libran like myself. A graduate from Sreeram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi, he is married to my bhabhi, Anita. They have a son Vayu.

Anita didi has been the first inspiration behind my passion for Art and painting. Married to Mr. Kamal Kumar Chowdhary, she is the mother of Sahil and Neel.

Gopal and I have studied in the same school. A gem of a person, he is a good brother. My bhabhi Suman just gave birth to a beautiful girl on May 30, 2004.

Just two years elder to me, Sunita and I have been the luckiest being the younger ones. Sunita is married to my jeeju, Mr. Manish Jain. They have two beautiful children - Rishabh and Richa.

Also at home are my Tai (Mrs. Dropti Devi Agarwal) and Tauji (Mr. Deokaran Agarwal).

My aunt, Mrs. Rama Devi Agarwal has dedicated her life to the service of Lord Krishna. My grandparents have left me the responsibility to take care of her. She is, in a way, the reason why I was born.

Family History

Originally from Taranagar (Rini), District Churu in Rajasthan, my great-grandfather Shri Brijlall Kandoi moved to Sikkim in 1902. He had four sons, my grandfather, Shri Banwarilall Kandoi being the eldest. Traditionally, my family has traded in cardamom. We now have a building in Gangtok, Sikkim, houses in Dikchu and Mangan (North Sikkim) and an old ancestral haveli in Taranagar.

I have vivid memories of my grandfather and of the time he expired in 1982. I lost my grandmother, Smt Mohra Devi Kandoi in 1986. The greatest setback in my life has been the untimely death of my eldest sister, Manju. She left us on April 12, 1988.
