Wireless Network

Comp. Center has a well written PDF file with step-by-step guide to connecting your Mac notebook to NUS Wireless network using PEAP.

Networked Printer

To connect to shared printer in common room, go to System Preference, Printer and Fax setup. hold down the alt key while choosing "Printer" - "Add Printer .." from the menu. You will see an option called "Advance" (On Tiger, click "More Printer.." first), select it, and select "Windows Printer via SAMBA". Enter the following URI to identify the printer: smb://username:password@domain/server/printer" where username and password is your NUSNET username and password, domain is your NUSNET domain (e.g. NUSSTF) server is the printer server (e.g. nts27.comp.nus.edu.sg) and printer is the name of the printer queue (pst428-dx).

Office Printer (HP LaserJet 1200)

Open up the side of the printer where the parallel cable is coming out from. You will see a 4-pin USB slot. Get the appropriate USB cable, and connect the 4-pin USB port to your USB port on your Mac. The Mac will magically determine the type of printer, and add the printer to the printer list.

Controlling Powerpoint with Handphone

Download Romeo and get a Bluetooth dongle (or built in bluetooth) if you have one of these phones. You can then remotely control your powerpoint presentation using your handphone -- you are no longer bound to the table/podium when you teach!
