            Dr. Hung-Keng Pung

Dr Pung Hung Keng was born in Singapore, where he received his primary, secondary and high school education. After completing his National Service in 1978 as an armour officer, he further his study and obtained a BSc (Hons) in Communications Engineering and then his PhD in Electronics from the University of Kent at Canterbury in UK, in 1981 and 1985, respectively. He continued fulfilling his national service until stepped down in 1995 as an Captain.

 

Shortly after obtaining his PhD degree, he joined the then Department of Information Systems and Computer under the Faculty of Science as a lecturer. Since then, he has been with the School of Computing where he is an Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science. He held a joint appointment as a principal scientist from Aug 2006—Aug 2009, and an faculty associate from 1998 –2003 at the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R)

 

Dr Pung married to Caroline and they have a son of 12 years  old.

and  has served several administrative roles in NUS:

·  <1996-1998> Faculty Technology coordinator, INTRO, NUS. Assist INTRO in matters related to IT projects.

·  <1996-1997> Management committee of PSA/NUS Research Program(1996- ):

· <1995-1997> Member of the Executive Committee of Dept. of Information Systems and Computer Science.

· <1994-1997> Chairman of the Committee for Publicity and Industry Collaboration of Dept. of Information Systems and Computer Science.

· <1994-1996> Member of the Interdisciplinary Consultative Groups (ICGs) for promoting multi-disciplinary research in multimedia applications and technology.

· <1993-1994> A NUS task force member to study the feasibility of setting up Multimedia Application Research Centre at NUS.

He has involved in the establishment of the following research laboratories
