RECOMB 2008

RECOMB conference series and the journal Genome Research team up

In addition to the established RECOMB proceedings volume with Springer Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics (LNBI), Genome Research (GR) will publish a selected set of RECOMB contributions in a special RECOMB issue/section of Genome Research. This is intended to give high quality computational biology papers with substantial biological impact better visibility.

LNCS will remain the default publication medium for papers accepted to RECOMB, barring those accepted for publication in Genome Research, in which cases only an Abstract will be printed in the LNBI volume. Like the LNBI volume, the GR special issue will be available at the conference. For a selection of RECOMB papers not published in GR, authors will have the option of submitting to Journal of Computational Biology.

What has changed for the submitting author?

  • An author submitting to RECOMB may choose to submit simultaneously to GR for consideration in the special issue
  • Length is unchanged (10 pages, possible Appendix)
  • Format for GR+RECOMB submissions: Abstract - Introduction - Methods - Results - Discussion
  • For consideration in GR papers need to represent cutting-edge computational biology of interest to the broad readership of GR, offering significant biological insight.
  • Decision about RECOMB acceptance and GR acceptance will be near simultaneous.

Reviewing process:

  • The RECOMB PC will judge independently from the Genome Research editors and reviewers. Acceptance to RECOMB is not contingent on the GR review process.
  • RECOMB PC plus GR editors select from GR-submitted papers those that go to a dditional GR review.
  • A paper that gets accepted by RECOMB and GR, will be presented at RECOMB and published in the GR special issue. RECOMB LNCS will publish an abstract.
  • A paper that gets accepted by RECOMB but not by GR, will be presented at RECOMB and published in RECOMB LNCS volume.
  • In the case that a paper gets accepted to GR but not to RECOMB, it will be considered for a regular volume of GR.
