Abstract

Most popular web sites are expecting overload.A promising approach to load balancing is a distributed architecture that can route incoming requests transparently among several server nodes. Current distributed server platforms typically use the DNS (Domain Name Service) server with a round-robin algorithm (RRA) to distribute requests among the server nodes. This presentation studies the behaviour of multiple-server cluster using a Discrete Event Simulation framework and shows how the system performance is improved by carefully choosing the scheduling algorithms.
