One of the potential applications is supply chain management (SCM) for efficient management of supply chain and product tracking. Each manufacturer will have its own system for managing its own stocks and products, and hence each such system (eg. An ERP) will act as a peer. In implementation, there could be a node acting as a peer node which is part of the overlay that provides connection to the ERP system. The P2P SCM system will enable more efficient ordering of raw materials and production between different manufacturers and suppliers, and will enable tracking of goods all the way from the supply chain to the demand chain.
