One-platform multiple-overlays structure: We will design an unstructured network with superpeers, and a structured network that is able to support both hash (Distributed Hash Table) based and range based data distribution and indexing |
Data modeling: We will design a data model to facilitate easy storage of data items into tables based on categories and tags. We will define the formalism for the data model, and necessary operators that operate on such tables. |
Information integration: To facilitate greater data sharing, we should not impose all peers adopting a global schema. We will propose keyword based search functionality for integrating information from heterogeneous databases. |
Query processing: Efficient query processing strategies will be designed to exploit the indexing structures built on the overlay |
Load balancing: The load, including the storage for data indexing and computational overhead in processing queries, need to be balanced. An efficient structure and strategy for statistics collections and maintenance will be designed to facilitating data migration between nodes, and placement of new nodes in the overlay, and load sharing among the peer nodes. |
Data Sercurity: We will study how information could be lost and misused, and devise mechanisms for protecting the data. |
