Interest
  • Health IT / Health Analytics / Mobile Health and Health 2.0.

My interests lie in the use and impact of IS in healthcare. My research in this area can be described along three trajectories. First, my focus is on information systems and technologies that are targeted at clinicians (such as hospital clinical information systems) where I examine how individual, social and organizational factors affect system adoption, implementation, use and success. I also evaluate the impact of HIT systems as well as HIT-enabled programs.

A second trajectory of my research focuses on technologies and programs that are targeted at health consumers (such as mobile fitness apps, online health communities). I am particularly interested in theory-driven approaches to designing health applications and the impact of these technologies and programs for delivering more patient-centric health services targeting at health behavior changes, patient wellness management, preventive treatments and treatment compliance.

The third trajectory of my work focuses on technology for elderly care and active ageing. I am currently working on several projects to apply technologies in nursing home and home-based elderly and assess the impact on elderly care and quality of life.

My industry collaborators include: Changi General Hospital, IHIS, Jurong Health Systems, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, National University Health Systems, Renci, Singapore General Hospital, Singapore Medical Group, Tsao Foundation.

  • Knowledge Management.

My interests are in the areas of facilitating effective knowledge contribution and use through Knowledge Management Systems. One of our contributions to the field has been in the development of a theoretical model for knowledge contribution behavior in distributed work environments that focuses on the mediating mechanisms (processes) that drive contribution behaviors.

My industry collaborators include ABN Amro Bank, Robert Bosch Singapore.
