The Centre for TeleMedia Strategy was established in September 1997 to crystallise research and teaching of the business, economic and social implications of telecommunications and media. The Centre combines technical as well as social science expertise to address key issues facing corporate and national decision-makers.

 
• EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES

The rapid growth of the telecommunications and media industries has created a large and growing demand for professional manpower throughout the region. TeleMedia will contribute to human resource development by supporting the University’s degree courses and through specialised development programmes.

• APPLIED & BASIC RESEARCH

Knowledge and learning must be continuously renewed to remain effective and relevant. TeleMedia’s first direction is to support applied and basic research. To launch its research program, the Centre has developed the Asia-Pacific Telecommunications Index, an annual benchmark for services, pricing, choice and regulation. This Index covers the major international telecommunications services for 13 economies in the region.

 
• GOVERNMENT & INDUSTRY CONSULTATION

TeleMedia aims to be the principal reference point for government and industry on policy and strategic issues in telecommunications and media. Through applied and basic research, we have established a unique set of human resources that can be leveraged to strengthen public policy as well as business strategy.
