Halfway to Full Light

I alighted a bus stop late,
but the road was alright,
and soon I was on familiar route.

I dropped a bit of concentration, looked up,
and hey! I thought it was full moon.

Saw her some weeks ago,
when she was a thin crescent;
saw her a few days ago,
when she was a little from a half;

and now that I looked closer,
though with that brightness she might as well be,
still a piece below her full self.

But then I thought,
that it might be worth waiting after all, the full moon,

if only just to show,
if only to let me know,

that there's always something to look forward to.
