Within Me Within You

Having taken it for granted for so long,
I retake my refuge
in the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha.

I'm so glad I have them
during this unsettling period of my life.

As the talk goes on to the parinibbana of the Buddha,
I think of how I've been cared for
by the Dhamma and the Sangha,
but have known the Buddha as a mere figure.

The talk then says,
the Buddha was a human being when he was enlightened;
you and I are human beings;
therefore, you and I can be enlightened.

Then I know
I am a Buddha seed,
you are a Buddha seed.

I shall take care of my body and mind,
and learn from everyone around me --
the Buddha seeds,
the first of the Triple Gem.
