ICAAS EXCO Visit to ICAAM in KL, 10-11 Jan 2004

On 10 Jan 2004, ICAAS EXCO (Limsoon, Hing Yan, Allen, Neng Hsiu) drove up to KL and met with ICAAM EXCO (Dr. Foo Ban Nyen, Dr. Tan Hock Meng, Dr. Zainal Abidin, Ms June Tan, Mr. Tan Joon Gei, Mr. Rajkumar Periannan). ICAAM EXCO treated us to a sumptious dinner at the Shang Restaurant in KL Shangri La. After dinner, we discussed some ideas for collaboration between the two IC alumni societies. Here are the three ideas that we decided to pursue further:

to organize a joint study or cultural tour to an exotic place like Mongalia or Siberia;
to organize a joint symposium on a theme of mutual interest, such as "Business in Malaysia" or "Trust in Singapore"; and
for ICAAS to organize a convocation event for the region.

Late night of 10 Jan, the four of us (and especially Neng Hsiu) went to spy on the night life in KL. According to Allen, who seemed to be an authority on this topic, the night life (and especially the bar-top dancing places) in KL was considerably less pretentious than that in S'pore. Here is a photo of the KL Twin Towers when we drove passed it that night:

We stayed at the newly renovated Mutiara Hotel in KL. The rooms were excellent and at RM250 a night, it was a very good deal.

Next morning (11 Jan), after Neng Hsiu rushed off to catch his plane to Macau, the rest of us took a walk to KLCC. Here are some of photos we took:

At about noon, we started our journey back to S'pore. Along the way, we visited Putrajaya, snacked in Malacca, and dined in Johore Bahru. Putrajaya was really grand. Here are some photos:

It was definitely an enjoyable trip!
