ICAAS Honorary Members

The ICAAS Constitution defines Honorary Membership as follows:

``C. Honorary Membership
Persons distinguished by eminence in public life or by service rendered to the College/Association shall be eligible to be conferred Honorary Membership.''

The Association may confer the Honorary Membership to individuals at its Annual General Meeting or any prominent event in the Association calendar.

* Selection Criteria

[Note: Alumni distinguished by service to the Association will be recognised by the ICAAS Distinguished Service Award (aka IDSA), which is the highest form of recognition by the Association]

* Eligibility

Anyone, regardless of whether he or she is an alumnus of the College, is eligible.

* Description

Recipients will receive an engraved plaque. [This is cited as an example only, as the actual award will be decided by the Award Committee]

Honorary Members will receive all the services of members without payment of membership fees otherwise payable. They cannot vote, nor are they eligible to hold elected offices in the Association.

The Association may, at its absolute discretion, waive the payment by Honorary Members of any fees charged for particular services provided to members generally.

Honorary Membership will commence once the nominee has been entered into the Register of Honorary Members and has been notified of the recognition.

* Limit

No more than three (3) Honorary Memberships can be conferred each year.

* Nomination

Any ordinary or life member may make nominations for this recognition.

All nominations must be fully completed and submitted to the Award Committee by the nomination deadline in order for the nominee to be considered as a candidate for the recognition. Self-nomination is not permitted.

All incomplete nominations will be returned to the nominator for re-submission. Nominations postmarked or date stamped after the nomination deadline will not qualify for consideration until the following year. Nominations not selected will be held and considered for two (2) consecutive years, then discarded.

To complete the nomination, please submit three (3) letters in support of the candidate's nomination by 31 March of each calendar year. Each nomination should provide support / evidence in how the nominee has fulfilled the selection criteria. In particular, specific reasons on how the nominee has served with distinction must be given. The nomination should include the following information of both the nominator and nominee: name, contact address, and contact telephone numbers.

* Award Committee

The Award Committee will be chaired by the ICAAS President. It will comprise four (4) other members. The latter will be drawn from a wide section of ICAAS members, present and past Exco members as well as past presidents. The tenure of the Award Committee will not exceed that of the sitting Exco. All decisions will be made by majority vote.
