
The ICAAS Constitution defines Honorary Membership as follows:
``C. Honorary Membership
The Association may confer the Honorary Membership to individuals at
its Annual General Meeting or any prominent event in the Association calendar.
* Selection Criteria
* Eligibility
Anyone, regardless of whether he or she is an alumnus of the College,
is eligible.
* Description
Recipients will receive an engraved plaque. [This is cited as an example
only, as the actual award will be decided by the Award Committee]
Honorary Members will receive all the services of members without payment
of membership fees otherwise payable. They cannot vote, nor are they
eligible to hold elected offices in the Association.
The Association may, at its absolute discretion, waive the payment by
Honorary Members of any fees charged for particular services
provided to members generally.
Honorary Membership will commence once the nominee has been entered
into the Register of Honorary Members and has been notified of the recognition.
* Limit
No more than three (3) Honorary Memberships can be conferred each year.
* Nomination
Any ordinary or life member may make nominations for this recognition.
All nominations must be fully completed and submitted to the Award
Committee by the nomination deadline in order for the nominee to be
considered as a candidate for the recognition.
Self-nomination is not permitted.
All incomplete nominations will be returned to the nominator for
re-submission. Nominations postmarked or date stamped after the
nomination deadline will not qualify for consideration until the
following year. Nominations not selected will be held and considered
for two (2) consecutive years, then discarded.
To complete the nomination, please submit three (3) letters in support
of the candidate's nomination by 31 March of each calendar year.
Each nomination should provide support / evidence in how the nominee
has fulfilled the selection criteria. In particular, specific reasons
on how the nominee has served with distinction must be given.
The nomination should include the following information of both the
nominator and nominee: name, contact address, and contact telephone numbers.
* Award Committee
The Award Committee will be chaired by the ICAAS President.
It will comprise four (4) other members. The latter will be drawn from
a wide section of ICAAS members, present and past Exco members as well
as past presidents. The tenure of the Award Committee will not exceed
that of the sitting Exco. All decisions will be made by majority vote.
Persons distinguished by eminence in public life or by service rendered
to the College/Association shall be eligible to be conferred
Honorary Membership.''
[Note: Alumni distinguished by service to the Association will be recognised
by the ICAAS Distinguished Service Award (aka IDSA), which is the highest
form of recognition by the Association]
