My name is Shanheng Zhao, or Chiu, Sin Hang as in Cantonese, or also known as Simon among friends. I am currently a PhD student in Computational Linguistics Laboratory, Department of Computer Science, School of Computing, National University of Singapore. My supervisor is Associate Professor Hwee Tou Ng .
I am a student member of ACL, student member of IEEE and IEEE Computer Society, members of IEEE-CS Technical Committees on Computational Intelligence, Digital Libraries, Multimedia Computing, and Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence. I am also a member of IAPR Technical Committees 11, student member of PREMIA, and PREMIB web welfare committee member.
My research interest is Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval. Currently I am working on coreference resolution and discourse analysis, both in English and Chinese.
My reading list in NLP/IR can be found here.I had written some random writings (notes, tutorials, etc.). Check it out here!
This is my own research notes which is updated whenever I have new ideas or progress.
My research portal, which contains bookmarks for academic websites, digital libraries and search engines, softwares, resources, and links to other researchers and research groups. This page contains links to some useful textbooks. Here are some passed and upcoming conferences.

My inimitable friends.
This is the page I start my web surfing.
My weekly log. Yes, it requires a password. If you are familiar with me (nickname?), you should be able to get it through. (Hint: Username and password are identical.)
Thanks Jorge Cham for his wonderful PhD comics, which accompanies me with the debilitated PhD daily life.
I have a large collection of music. Unfortunately, the hits do like a univariate Gaussian with low variance. Most hits concentrate on a small subset of the collection. Hence, many of them have seldom been listened to. Any suggestions to make it asymptotically uniform in pratice?
I like travelling and photographing. Some selected photos are available here. The selection itself is surely arbitrary. Think about an algorithm to comparing pictures, as what I am doing in text coherence analysis now.
