Welcome to the School of Computing (SoC) !
We have especially put together the "Introduction to Programming" workshop that will help you to start right in your learning journey here!
The workshop is only opened to freshmen who are admitted to the Bachelor of Computing in Information Systems (IS) and Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics (BZA) programmes in the academic year beginning August 2019.
Only freshmen with absolutely zero programming experience should attend. You do NOT need to attend the workshop if you have already i) taken a basic programming course during your pre-university days; or ii) participated in some online courses/tutorials on basic programming. The workshop only covers very basic programming concepts to instil confidence in programming and prepare you for your first formal programming course in SoC. As such, students with prior programming experience will NOT benefit from the workshop.
IS freshmen will read the Java version of the workshop and BZA freshmen will read the Python equivalent.
The dates would be:
1, 2 and 4 July 2019 (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday)
Click here to find out more and to register.
The workshop is offered Free-of-Charge!
Registration is open from 1 April till 15 June 2019. Please register early.
Successful applicants will be notified via email latest by mid-June.
