15 July 2016 – Dr. Zhao Shengdong has received the Outstanding Young (Chinese) Leader in HCI award for his work in the field of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) from the International Chinese Association of Computer Human Interaction (ICACHI).

The award was presented at The Fourth International Symposium of Chinese CHI (Chinese CHI 2016) at San Jose, California, USA, in early May. Dr. Zhao and four other researchers are the first recipients of this award, which is ICACHI’s acknowledgement of their leadership and development of the Chinese HCI community through outstanding research and innovation.

Dr. Zhao has a wealth of experience in developing new interface tools and applications. ACM Interaction Magazine named him one of the most prolific authors in Asia for the ACM SIGCHI conference (the most prestigious conference in the field of HCI) in the last six years. Dr. Zhao is also an active leader in the international HCI community. He frequently serves on programme committees in top HCI conferences. He was co-chair of the Interaction Using Specific Capabilities or Modalities subcommittee for SIGCHI in 2015 and 2016. He is also the program co-chair for the first and second Chinese CHI conference.
