05 December 2016 - Computer Science PhD student Rajiv Ratn Shah has been awarded the prestigious European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) Alain Bensoussan Fellowship.
He will be spending a year as a fellow at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from April next year.
Rajiv said that the fellowship will allow him to interact with researchers across the world and increase his opportunities for international collaborations. His research interest lies in user-generated multimedia content, which has widespread applicability in real life, and that he will be working on multimedia analytics projects at NTNU. These projects would involve the development of algorithms that automatically detect and predict traffic events for a given route or abnormal activities during natural or man-made calamities, based on information derived from heterogeneous sources such as social media and GPS observations.
