As you can see, the Blue Mountains is really a highlands plateau and the attraction is actually the valley views. They say in summer the fine oil mist thrown off by the eucalyptus forests as they do photosynthesis gives a bluish hue to the mountains and valleys, hence the name Blue Mountains.
