  • NLP and IR tools hosted locally on sf3/sunfire. You have access to most of these tools and corpora by default. Use them for your projects and your research.
  • Looking for ideas for projects? Try past projects from this course, turned in by students from last year or the year before. It's the same course but at that time it was offered as a special topics course.
  • You can find more relevant papers in these and other topic areas on other DL courses that have been held at other institutions, including the following faculty / institutions which have placed their materials online:
    • Richard Furuta's Digital Libraries course at Texas A&M
    • C. Lee Giles's Information Retrieval, Digital Libraries & the Web course at UPenn
    • Deborah Barreau's Digital Library Foundations course at Catholic U.
  • There are a number of conferences that deal primarily or peripherally with digital libraries. Here are some that you can use for your survey paper and to find related work in your area. Use journal and conference rankings to help you get an idea of which to try first.
    • JCDL 02 - JCDL 03 - JCDL 04 - JCDL 05

  • Other useful links:
    • DELOS Network - The reigning EU umbrella project that organizes digital library activities.
  • If you're relatively new to doing computer science / information systems research, you might consider looking over a talk that I gave to my undergraduate students about beginning your research career.
