--------------------------------------------------------------------------- From leonghw@comp.nus.edu.sg Sat Aug 1 15:53:29 1998 Subject: Scheme Lab Sitters... To all, namely: xudegui (Xu Degui), yangshao (Yang Shaofa), loonkokk (Loon Kok Keong), limcheek (Lim Chee Kiong), changtin (Chang Ting Ting), gohjieme (Goh Jie Mein), Good news... The application for funds to pay student lab sitters has been approved. I am happy to appoint each of you as lab sitters for CS1101S (Scheme). Your responsibilities as Scheme Lab Sitters will be to be present at your appointed Open-Lab-Hours every week during the term (2 hours) and be available to help answer technical questions from the students. Please report to Chee Wai for actual assignment of hours. (-->Chee Wai: Please handle.) You will be paid for doing this. I will try my best to *increase* the pay for you... so let's see. (I believe that you do not consider this as purely to make money.) We expect that at the beginning, that there will be quite a bit of questions about logging-on, emacs, running scheme and so on. There may also be questions pertaining to homeworks and problem sets. Help them understand what is required and maybe what they need to learn in order FOR THEM to solve their problems. Please do NOT solve their problems FOR THEM. Thank you all again for volunteering and have a fruitful and rewarding teaching experience! Regards, --hon-wai --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From leonghw@comp.nus.edu.sg Sat Aug 1 16:23:11 1998 Chwan Ren and Chin Lin: Thank you for volunteering to become Scheme Lab Sitters. Due to budget constraints, I cannot hire all the people who volunteered and so I chose 6 and you two are not among the 6. Not that you are not capable of the job -- but I am hoping * that Chwan Ren will spend more time for preparing to compete for places to represent SoC for the ACM Programming Contest -- runned by Dr Andrew Lim and to be announced soon * to still convince Chin Lin that Research can *STILL* be an option for her. Maybe spend some time with my students and continue work in similar area -- YES? I appreciate your volunteering to help out. Of course, you can alway "just happen" to show up at the Open Lab sessions and disturb the freshies.... :-) Regards, --hon-wai ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
