From: Dr. Leong To: All IC1101S Students... Re: Thanks to those who replied... First of all, I like to thank many of you for replying to my informal feedback form. It is enough for me to write my short article. I am in the midst of compiling the results of the feedback exercise. So far, I have got 26 responses -- including two of you who replied from China -- thank you very much for the extra efforts you put in. To those who have not replied and are free -- hey, I know there are some of you out there - do send in your reply -- it is not too late. To those who have replied -- thanks for the detailed and wonderful comments. It is most refreshing for me to learn from them. I would like to compile all the comments and mail them back to all of you-- without names or identities of the people making the comments. To do this, I hope to get one volunteer to assist -- this volunteer must also promise to keep the info to himself/herself. Can I ask for one person to email me if you are willing to help compile this. Thank you in advance. (Those doing special term should NOT do this -- special term is stressful enough.) Lastly, I hope that all of you are having a rewarding and enriching vacation / special term. Also I hope that this vacation will also provide all of you with lots and lots of problem solving opportunities - remember - problem solving opportunities abound everywhere and anywhere. Let me know about some interesting ones that you come across. Did anyone remember that in my first Problem-Solving Lecture, I mentioned that one of my former student sent me a puzzle? I am enclosing it for your enjoyment and hope that you will also send me new ones you come across. And by coincidence, I was doing a lecture on problem solving at the time your mail was sent to me! And I gave out the article on "Cattywampus" to them. I am leading an IT stream of sorts -- this time called the Special Programme in DISCS -- a programme that is aimed at preparing some of our top DISCS students for research. This pioneer batch, we have 60 studens. You can take a look at some un-updated info on the SPD in the SPD homepage -- www.iscs.nus.edu.sg/~leonghw/SPD and also take a look at some of my recent activities in my homepage www.iscs.nus.edu.sg/~leonghw How is work for you these days?
