Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question: The TSP requirements are very similar to those for the existing TDP programme. Is that right?

Answer: Yes. That's right. The current TDP requirements specify 8 CORE modules, two TDCS modules (TDCS1102, TDCS2103), two independent research modules (UROP CS3208 and CS3209), plus optional TDCS modules at the 3000-level.

Thus, if we interpret the TDCS and UROP modules to be substitutes for the new style "advanced TDP modules" for the USP, then this would have fulfilled the USP requirements.

Question: Why is it that I can't find the TDCS modules in the Online Registration System?

Answer: All TDCS modules will NOT appear in the Online Registration System.

You should now register for the corresponding CS module. The conversion to the corresponding TDCS module will be done for you automatically a little later.

Question: I have done CS1102. Do I still need to take TDCS1102?

Answer: No, you don't. And the same applies to CS2103.

In general, if you will have to take TDCS1102 if you have not taken CS1102. The same applies for TDCS2103. Therefore, CORE students from the 2000 intake who will have to do TDCS1102 and TDCS2103.

Question: I am a CORE students from the 1999 intake and has taken CS1102, CS2103 and has NOT signed up for UROP. What should I do about the USP requirements?

Answer: You will need to sign up for UROP. The TDP Coordinator will also meet with you to discuss this on a case-by-case basis.

Question: I am in the TDP/USP and would like to take the 3000-level TDCS course (CS3101, CS3230, CS3243, CS3241, CS3251). What should I do?

Answer: Since the 3000-level TDCS courses are optional, you will have to inform the TDP/USP coordinator (leonghw) and your course lecturer about taking the TDCS version. Some of the newer lecturers are not well-versed with TDCS modules and I will meet them next wee (week of 15th-Jan) to brief them on TDCS modules.
