Honours Year Project
    Leong Hon Wai, S16, 05-05
    School of Computing, NUS

In general, I strongly urge Honours students to come and talk
to me if they are interested in Honours Projects with me. I believe
that a project that is "custom-made for student-supervisor"
is the best project.

 Possible Honours Projects
  - Those in the official

              SoC Honours Project List

 - There are also possible projects related to our existing research
projects in Logistics Optimization -- such as with our
BAPS, RADS, VRPS and IRP systems.

 - Your own project ideas that interest me!

Yes, I welcome those too --
come in and talk or email

Some Advice to Honours Students -- (Old Stuff from 1997/98)
I personally believe that our Honours students should join some
professional society to learn "see and feel" the broader picture
of computing as a career (whether commercial or research).
For student membership, many of these are really cheap and you
really get (more than?) your money's worth.
Joining ACM as Student Members (written June 1997)
Finally, some of the students who attended my Honours briefing
wanted info on joining the
 ACM
as student members.
I strongly encourage this! You can read the web page for benefits.
To join, you can just fill in the
 online form
or fill in a

text application form.
The annual fee for student membership is US$26 a year.
You will need the name of a faculty
member as some simple verification that you are a full time student.
You can use my name (Hon Wai Leong) for this.
But, please first email me to let me know.
(You can also use the name of other DISCS staff member provided
that you first obtain permission.)
Also, any of our ISCS full time student can apply to be a
student member -- in fact, the earlier you apply, the better!
The ACM
homepage contains a whole wealth of very good information
and I urge you to visit it whether you are a member of not.
