: : : PROJECT PROPOSAL DESCRIPTIONS: : : Brief Project Description Object Oriented (OO) technologies have emerged as a dominant software engineering practice. Various sets of object-oriented metrics have been proposed as a means of assessing whether systems under investigation exhibit characteristics of quality software. The more established ones include metrics suite proposed by Chidamber and kemerer, Lorenz and Kidd as well as one by Abreu. All three sets attempt to capture the key elements of Object-Oriented Software: encapsulation, abstraction, inheritance and polymorphism. The objective of my thesis project is to conduct study and review the existing metrics suite, evaluate them and discuss how well it can be adopted into the industry in ensuring good quality Object Oriented Design. It should demonstrate, with some empirical evidence, the usefulness of the metrics as quality indicators for software products. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
